Overview

The Alert Management menu is used to setup email or text notifications when certain device events are sent.
Using alerts, you can set up the system so that you are emailed any time any vehicle sends a Vehicle Abandonment event, or even set a GeoFence around your dealership and be notified whenever a vehicle leaves that GeoFence between 11 PM and 5 AM.

Types of Alerts

Auto Report: Sent when the device automatically sends a heartbeat location, as defined by the Auto Report command.

Battery Disconnect: If a device has an internal battery, a Battery Disconnect event is sent when the external power source stops (e.g. the vehicle’s battery runs out or the device is physically removed).

Drive Report: Sent when a vehicle has been moving for a certain amount of time, as defined by the Drive Report command. If the Drive Report is set for 5 minutes, an alert would be sent when the vehicle has been moving for 5 minutes. Drive Reports will be sent every 5 minutes while the vehicle is moving. If the vehicle happens to be stopped when the 5 minute cycle ends (e.g. the vehicle is stopped at a red light), a Drive Report will not be sent.

GeoFence Violations: Sent when a vehicle enters or exits a GeoFence, or when it leaves an enabled QuickFence.

GeoZone Violations: Sent when the device sends another event, and the server detects that a GeoZone violation has occurred. GeoZone Violations are not sent in real-time.

Low Battery Voltage: Sent when the battery in a device’s vehicle falls below a threshold voltage, which indicates that the vehicle's battery may run out soon.

Max Speed: Sent when a vehicle's speed is above the threshold defined by the Set Max Speed command.

Power Up with GPS: Sent when a device is powered up and has established a GPS location.

Service Alert: Sent when a vehicle is due for maintenance.

Stop Report: Sent when a vehicle has been stopped for a certain amount of time, as defined by the Stop Report command. If the Stop Report is set for 10 minutes, an alert would be sent when the vehicle stops and doesn't move for 10 minutes. Additional Stop Reports will not be sent until the vehicle moves and stops again.

Tow Alert: Sent when a vehicle is moving but the ignition is not turned on. The ignition wire must be hooked up for Tow Alerts to be sent accurately. Tow Alerts can be turned on and off with the Tow Alert command

Vehicle Abandonment: Sent when a vehicle has not moved for 7 days.

Adding an Alert

Click the Add button at the top right of the page to add a new alert.

This opens the Create Alert window.

Choose a name for the alert and enter it in the Alert Name field.

Select a Scope from the dropdown:

  • Global: all vehicles in the account
  • Group: all vehicles in the selected vehicle group
  • Vehicle: only for the specific selected vehicle

Use the checkboxes under Alert Types to choose which events will trigger the alert.

Use the checkboxes under Validity Period to specify the day(s) and time(s) during which the alert can be triggered. If the alert happens outside of the selected Validity Period, you will not be notified.

Note: If no checkboxes are selected, the alert can be triggered on any day/time.

Select a recipient for the alert using the Recipients dropdown, then click Add. Multiple recipients can be added to the same alert. Use the Create button to add new recipients to the system.

Once all recipients are added, use the dropdown in the Delivery Method column to specify a delivery method for each recipient: Email, Phone (text message), or Email & Phone.

Note: You can remove recipients from the alert using the trashcan icon to the far right of each recipient.

Click the Edit (pencil) icon next to the alert you would like to modify.

This opens the Edit Alert window.

All elements of the alert can be edited.

Click Save.

Alerts can only be searched by the Alert Name. Searches are case insensitive and can be partial matches.
